Students of China University of Petroleum (East China) won the first prize in the 9th China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition

Students from China University of Petroleum (East China) participated in the final of the 9th China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition which was held in Beijing from May 18th to 19th, winning 1 first prize, 5 second prizes and 18 third prizes. China University of Petroleum (East China) was rated as an excellent organization.

The 9th China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition was held by the National Committee of the World Petroleum Council, the China Petroleum Society and the China Petroleum Education Association, supported by China Petroleum and Natural Gas Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation, China Ocean Petroleum Corporation Limited and Schlumberger Company. The contest requires the competitors to conduct oilfield block scheme design based on the data provided and under the principle of open design, aiming at training and improving students' ability to solve complex engineering problems, and cultivating petroleum engineers with scientific and technological innovation, engineering practice and team cooperation to meet the needs of social development.

2234 teams from 33 universities and research institutes in China took part in this competition, and 1273 works were submitted. The competition is divided into four groups: comprehensive group, individual group, innovation group and software development group. After the preliminary examination, review and presentation in the final contest, the teams fought for 1 Excellence Cup, 18 first prizes, 57 second prizes and 183 third prizes.
